While in Massachusetts I decided to make the drive down to Battleship Cove to check out the floating museum. Slideshow Mode (4 second delay): On / Off photo caption index One battleship (USS Massachusetts BB59), one destroyer (USS Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr. DD850), one Baleo class submarine (USS Lionfish SS298), two PT boats (PT617 and PT 796), one Russian built ship of the East German Navy that was turned over to the US following the fall of the Berlin Wall (Honesee) and several other static displays, a Huey helicopter, a Cobra helicopter, a Navy training airplane and a Landing Craft Mechanical (LCM). All of the displays were showing their age. From chipped paint on all of the ships, rotting wooden decks on the USS Massachusetts, grass growing between the cracks of the wooden decks, to sun faded plaques on all of the displays. |
